It sounds like you're trying to complete an assignment for a class on Excel which is based on one of the Windows versions. The Chart Styles in Mac Excel 2011 are not identified in the same way. In fact, they have no names/labels at all. All you can do is use the Chart Styles Gallery & count from left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
Typically, the Gallery opens to display 6 rows containing 8 Styles each, so Chart Style 12 should be the 4th from the left in the 2nd row from the top. If my hunch is right, your best bet is to discuss the issue with the instructor.
See whether alternatives are acceptable for Mac users. You're bound to encounter other conflicts which won't be as easy to resolve. Excel for mac & Excel for Windows do not share identical feature sets. Please mark HELPFUL or ANSWERED as appropriate to keep list as clean as possible ☺ Regards, Bob J.
Format: More fine-tuning using the selection indicator and chooser, chart element styles, text styles, arrangement, and size tools. Selecting chart elements in Excel 2011 for Mac. To select a chart element, you can either click the element or click the Current Selection pop-up menu found within the Chart Layout tab of the Ribbon. Excel 2007 and 2010 both offer the charting interface with an option for stacked charts, with the only variation being how to launch the chart interface. The most practical use of stacked charts is to display three or more data series.
